Gates of Olympus: tumbling wins and a running feature multiplier

The original Gates of Olympus counts matching symbols across the screen. Its free-spin multiplier can accumulate, so the number printed on one multiplier symbol and the feature total are different values.

Eight matching symbols, without a payline

Pragmatic Play describes six tumbling reels and a minimum of eight matching symbols paying anywhere. They do not need to form a traditional line. Winning symbols leave and replacements can create another evaluation.

Consider eight identical gems scattered across the board. In an anywhere-pays game their positions do not need to draw a line from the left reel. Conversely, seven identical gems are below the stated minimum, even if they make a neat visual row. Always count the symbol type before interpreting the animation.

Separate the tumble subtotal from its multiplier

Multiplier symbols can appear in base play and the feature, with individual values up to 500×. MrQ describes eligible multiplier values being added at the end of a tumble sequence before application to its win.

Worked mechanics example
Eligible tumble subtotal: £0.60.
Multiplier values: 2× + 3× = 5×.
Calculation: £0.60 × 5 = £3.

Boundary: the multiplier values are added, not multiplied together. The example does not predict the next result.

The feature keeps a running multiplier

Four or more scatters trigger fifteen free spins. During the feature, a multiplier landing on a winning spin is added to the running multiplier and applied to that win.

Suppose the displayed feature total is 7× and the next qualifying event adds 3×. The updated value is 10×. If that event has an eligible £0.40 subtotal, applying 10× gives £4. The example assumes the stated qualifying event and excludes other awards. A large running total alone is not an account balance.

A UK operator setting, not a universal RTP

MrQ’s exact original-game page lists 94.50% RTP. That is a published operator-page value checked on 21 September 2026, not a setting established for every British casino or a logged-in session. Confirm the in-game information panel.

At 94.50%, the theoretical difference between stakes and returns is 5.50% over the model’s long run. It does not cap losses at 5.50% of a deposit. Deposited money can be staked repeatedly, and a short session can finish far from the theoretical ratio.

Choose the right comparison

This review covers the original, not Gates of Olympus 1000 or Super Scatter. Similar artwork does not make their limits interchangeable. A casino’s promotional spins also remain an offer with separate terms; they are not the fifteen-spin feature trigger.

Compare Reactoonz for adjacent clusters and Gonzo’s Quest for fixed-line Avalanches. Our MrQ review covers the operator separately, while RTP explained unpacks the percentage.

Questions, answered

Do matching symbols have to touch?

No. The original uses anywhere-pays counting, with at least eight matching symbols.

Are multiplier symbols multiplied together?

The described eligible values are added before application; do not multiply 2× and 3× into 6×.

Is 94.50% a payout promise?

No. It is a theoretical operator-page configuration figure, not a session forecast.
